EDC Moving Systems Joins Atlas Van Lines

Houston, Texas – EDC Moving Systems has joined Atlas Van Lines, one of the largest relocation networks in the country. The Houston-based company became an Atlas Van Lines agent on Sept. 1, joining more than 500 Atlas agents across North America. In addition to its corporate office and branch in Houston, the firm has three additional branches in Dallas, San Antonio and Austin.

“Becoming part of the Atlas network really expands what we can offer our customers,” said George Gilbert, president of EDC Moving Systems. “They will benefit from access to Atlas’ extensive resources and nationally trusted customer service, and EDC will gain access to some of the best technologies, policies and thinking in the moving industry.”

Established in 1976, EDC Moving Systems provides packing, crating and protected storage, plus local, long distance and international transportation services. The firm’s four modern warehouses offer a combined 400,000 square-feet of storage space, with barcode inventory and order tracking.

“EDC’s superior customer service and integrity in the local market make it a perfect fit for Atlas,” said Glen Dunkerson, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “I’m confident this will be a terrific partnership for both Atlas and the communities EDC serves.”

Atlas Van Lines is the largest subsidiary of Atlas World Group, an Evansville, Ind.-based company that posted revenues of $908 million in 2008. Atlas World Group companies employ nearly 700 people throughout North America. More than 500 Atlas interstate agents in the United States and Canada specialize in corporate employee relocation and in the transportation of high-value items such as electronics, fine art and new fixtures and furniture.
